Have you got Irish roots? Did your ancestors emigrate from a traditional Irish family homestead many years ago? Maybe you have had the chance to visit the Emerald Isle yourself and have seen ruins of what was once a cosy cottage with traditional hearthstone and open fire.

Handcrafted Cottages

Now you can recapture the authenticity of that homestead with your very own replica Irish Thatched Cottage, handmade in County Mayo.

These hand crafted cottages are historically accurate replicas of those lived in by people in the 19th and early 20th centuries in rural Ireland.

All structural facets are reproduced with careful attention to detail.

There are two options to choose from - Traditional Cottage only or the Cottage complete with its farmyard setting.

Traditional Cottage

These represent styles typical of the Irish farmhouse and farmyard of yesteryear surrounded by rough stone walls and with small 'lean-to' which served as home for the family's pig.

Each cottage has 2 rooms and a kitchen with old-fashioned half door. They are rigid timber framed with rough 'whitewashed' plaster on the exterior. The partitioned walls are visible through the half door as is the open fireplace and hobs.

Traditional Cottage & Farmyard

Pride of place in the yard is given to the stack of turf, built convenient to the back door to provide heat for the long Winter nights and the storytelling around the glowing fire.

A cock of hay (for feeding the animals) is beside the cowhouse and all the buildings are neatly thatched to combat the Winter weather.

This cottage has 1 room and a kitchen.
